Three Day Set with Frank

Frank & Molly and the Marlin
Frank & Molly and the Marlin

Friday June 10th we took a long time customer and friend out for the third day in a row. Our customer had been on a bit of a cold streak with the Blue Marlin lately but he is very persistent! The first day out, we had no bites. On day two we had five blue marlin bites but lost every single one of them. Day three arrived, and we knew it was a morning bite so we left early at 5:30 AM and headed south, down the ledge. Twenty minutes into our trip we got him a very nice 275 lbs. Pacific Blue Marlin that he muscled to the boat in about 10 minutes for crew member Molly Palmer to take over and that fish was not done yet!

Once we got that Marlin at the boat side we got four more beautiful jumps out of it but it was too crazy to get any pictures of that action. Frank had to catch a flight back home to California that afternoon so we cut the trip short and ended his three day trip on a great fish! Thank you Frank looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Today so far has been great, we have a super nice return guest onboard from Chicago. By 11¬†AM we are currently 1/3 on blue marlin plus every other boat I’ve spoken with also got a blue bite or two this morning as well!

This one that we caught was about 150lbs we captured & released it in about 10 minutes and it swam away healthy as can be, to fight another day! The bite is on here in Kona-Hawaii

In our next post, I’ll tell you about the Great Blue Marlin 500 pounds!

This is our news blog, it is a way for those of you that do not follow us on Facebook to keep up with what’s happening on the boat like our latest stories, catches,& photo’s. We hope that you enjoy this and that you, yourself can get in our news feed with your very own great catch, anytime you come to fish with us!!!

Our first story comes from May 14th when we took our friend and longtime customer Brian Whitley from South Carolina out for the second day of his 2 day trip where we were lucky enough to catch him the biggest Ahi (Hawaiian for yellowfin tuna) of his life and also my personal best of 204lbs.

It was a long battle of 40 minutes. Brian did a great job and brought the fish to the boat in great condition. looking forward to seeing you again in the near future Brian! Tight lines and ALOHA!!!

May 30th Memorial day. We took some great folks from Detroit and Wisconsin out for a half day. The weather was amazing, the water was Kona flat, and the fish were biting!!! We managed to get them a very nice spearfish of about 45lbs. Now usually we release all billfish – but this time our guest wanted some table fare so we decided to keep this one. Spearfish are a part of the Billfish family but are also the best eating of the family as well. A little later in the day we had a Marlin bite but it fell off the hook shortly after it had bit, oh well that’s fishing. Just as we were about to bring in the lines a feisty Mahi Mahi grabbed our long rigger and was brought to the boat in minutes to end another great Kona day!

Tight lines and ALOHA!!!
